This Site is Available for Adoption

Our goal is to help you track your ancestors through time by transcribing genealogical and historical data for the free use of all researchers.

We're looking for folks who share our dedication to putting data online and are interested in helping this project be as successful as it can be. If you are interested in joining Genealogy Trails, view our
Volunteer Page for further information and then contact Kim.
(Enough knowledge to make a basic webpage and a desire to transcribe data is required)

Morgan County was originally part of Madison County. Morgan County was established in 1823.

It was named after Daniel Morgan, an early soldier.

The first settlers began arriving in Morgan County around 1818 .

The present-day counties of Cass and Scott were part of Morgan County until 1837 and 1839.

The boundary line with Cass County was originally further north than the current boundary which was established in 1845. View our
MAPS section to see the early county divisions.
