Ward's Grove Township
Jo Daviess County, Illinois
The Township of Ward's Grove is one of the small townships of the county, and takes its name, as
heretofore stated, from Bernard Ward, its first settler, while James Blair, Samuel Tyrrell, Joseph Moore
and William Graves settled in the township very soon after Mr. Ward located there. Very little effort has been made to discover
ore in this township, although traces have been found in various places. There are no incorporated villages within
the township, although a portion of Morseville was laid out
on its western border. Its soil is very productive and it contains as good land as there is in the county.
